I sewed two practice bags before I got this right..... I've sewn zippers into clothes but never into a bag. I am not sure why I found it so complex but after a few great online tutorials I think I got it! Here's a cosmetic bag I made for my sister Lisa. I made two but only got a picture of one before giving it away (Lily - you'll have to send pictures of yours....)

Keychains
Ok, so it has nothing to do with sewing, but it's still handmade! I've been sketching designs for keychains that I plan on selling (amongst other things) on Etsy.com . Here are the first few that I tried.

Completed Project : Hog Sling
I made a hog carrier / sling to carry my hedgehogs in. It was quick, super easy and the hogs love it!! I found the pattern online at:

Ongoing Project : Simplicity 3507
Ok, so the dress is almost complete. Unfortunately I haven't quite learned the whole pattern sizing thing. I measure, then pick the right size according to my measurements, but something is not quite right. It's rare for one of my projectes to end up fitting snug. Usually everything turns out ginormous and requires a lot of adjusting! Again, this project has fallen into that oversized category. To fix that, I've decided to make a belt so that I can create a waist instead of it looking like a sac! I won't be using this belt. I tied it on just to get an idea of what it would look like. I'll probably end up making one from the same fabric as the dress. I suppose I am testing its potential! It looks not so bad; on the dress form anyways! In reality, I am not so sure the dress will end up looking so nice with constant movement on a human body. For now, I'll admire it in its stillness....

Ongoing Project: Simplicity 3507
The bodice is almost complete! I've noticed that as I start sewing more projects, I take longer to complete them. Not because I am choosing more difficult patterns, but because I am actually learning to take my time! I complete the project in sections and sit back to observe, consider and mull my "creation in the making" to make sure it is as 'perfect' as my current beginner skills allow. If it's not, I rip stitches and re-do. I am sure if this is one of my first few projects, I would have ripped through the project in all my excitement, just so that I could have a finished project to hang in my closet.

New Project : Simplicity 3507
After much delay, I've cut out the pattern for my new project. In my head I am thinking I'll get around to cutting the fabric today, but instead I am here writing about my great sewing intentions!! I'll be making the sleeveless mini dress with pleated pockets. I think it will be a great addition to my weekend summer wardrobe! Hoping for ease and success......

The Hogs are Taking Over!
Ever since Holly and the Boys have entered my life I have spent all my sewing time making goodies for them. I've sewn tons of cage liners and hedgie bags (hedgehog sized sleeping bags) to keep them toasty and dry. I keep telling myself I am going to start my Simplicity 3507 project 'today'.... we'll see!!
